A Kaleidoscope of Colors: New Rosé Releases

BY VINOUS | MAY 25, 2023

The Rosé category has never been as exciting as it is today. We all witnessed a considerable surge in Rosé over the past decade, driven by a combination of the success of the Provencal style and sommeliers around the world deciding that Rosé was “hot.” Unfortunately, the result was an ocean of Rosé that suddenly flooded markets trying to copy that Provencal style and losing much of its character and flavor. Even today I encounter the occasional Cerasuolo producer explaining their preference for a more subdued color or flavor to cater to international markets.

Recent tastings unveiled a stunning array of regional styles that suggest those days are thankfully coming to an end. Cerasuolo remains one of my top picks. The best wines offer depth, complexity, power and freshness. Readers will also find a selection of Rosé from around the world in this report. Expect to see updates to this article as our writers work to bring you their top picks. Until then, happy hunting.
