Join Antonio Galloni for this extraordinary retrospective of the Barolos of Cantina Bartolo Mascarello. We will taste all of the modern-day classic vintages, including 2010, 2008, 2006 and 2004, as well as the 1990, 1989 and 1988 and a number of other reference-point wines. The night comes to a close with the 1986 Barolo, a wine from one of the most remarkable vintages of the last forty years (served from magnum), and the 1958, which is arguably the single greatest Barolo ever made at the estate. We will taste the 1958 from the exceedingly rare 1.9 liter bottiglione.

Soldera: Brunello di Montalcino Through the Ages 1981-2006

maze Restaurant

10-13 Grosvenor Square, London W1K 6JP, United Kingdom

Wednesday April 27, 2016 at 6:30pm

On April 27, 2016 Antonio Galloni will lead what is surely one of the most historically significant vertical tastings of Gianfranco Soldera’s Brunellos ever staged. We will taste all of the reference-point wines, including the 1982, 1990 Riserva and 1993 Riserva, as well as more recent benchmark Brunellos such as the 1997 Riserva, 1999 Riserva, 2001 Riserva and 2004 Riserva. Lastly, we will taste the two Brunellos Soldera made in 1983, one of his most important early vintages. In 1983, Soldera bottled two Brunellos (one a straight Brunello, the other a Riserva) that were essentially essays on different approaches to vinification. We will taste them both, from magnum.

Vintages: 1981, 1982, 1983, 1983 Riserva, 1987, 1988, 1990 Riserva, 1993 Riserva, 1994 Riserva, 1995 Riserva, 1996 Riserva, 1997 Riserva, 1999 Riserva, 2000 Riserva, 2001 Riserva, 2003 Riserva, 2004 Riserva, 2005 Riserva, 2006 Riserva

Seats are $1950 (approximately £1365) each and are currently available to Premium subscribers.
