1994 Rochioli Pinot Noir West Block

BY ANTONIO GALLONI | JANUARY 8, 2018

Rochioli’s 1994 Pinot Noir West Block is fabulous. Rich and sumptuous on the palate, with superb aromatic intensity, the 1994 is super-expressive today. Dark cherry, mocha, spice and leather notes all lift from the glass in this rewarding, hugely delicious Pinot.  At the time, Tom Rochioli made his wines in a more extracted, oak-driven style than he does today. The West Block was aged in 100% new barrels and has handled the oak very nicely. At twenty-four years of age, the  1994 is fully mature, but it has enough depth to drink well for at least another few years. The 1994 was made from the Joe Rochioli’s original vineyard, first planted in 1969 with Wente Clone Pinot. 93/Drink: 2018-2021
